Head Of BP2MI Benny Did Not Fulfill The Follow-up Clarification Regarding The Figure Of T Today

JAKARTA - Head of the Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency (BP2MI) Benny Rhamdani was unable to attend further clarification invitations regarding the figure with the initials T, which was scheduled by the Criminal Investigation Police investigators today. The reason is because there are activities in North Sulawesi.

"That's right, because there are activities that have been scheduled long ago in North Sulawesi," said Benny to VOI, Thursday, August 1

The activity referred to regarding his duties as Head of BP2MI. So, Benny must first complete his obligations until August 3, 2024.

In addition, Benny also conveyed that he had sent a letter requesting a postponement of clarification through his attorney to investigators.

"I have entered the postponement letter through my attorney. I have submitted the postponement letter to the 5th," he said.

Meanwhile, when asked further about the figure of T who was said to be the mastermind behind the criminal act of trafficking in persons (TPPO), Benny was reluctant to speak. Only emphasize that this matter has been conveyed to investigators.

"Yes, when we enter there, we will meet on the 5th," said Benny.

Benny Rhamdani on Monday, July 29, underwent an examination for five and a half hours related to the figure T who was said to be controlling online gambling practices in Indonesia.

Investigators are said to have asked 22 questions regarding the problem and are now in the spotlight. At that time, Benny explained that the person with the initials T was not the controller of online gambling. T is called Benny the mastermind behind the criminal case of trafficking in persons or TIP.

"My speech and what was conveyed in an internal meeting or limited meeting at the palace was about preventing criminal acts of trafficking in persons," said Benny.

"So when it comes to the Cambodian issue, it has something to do with where our illegally dispatched workers are employed in the online gambling business and online scamming," he continued.

However, the examination has not been fully completed. Thus, investigators rescheduled it on Thursday, August 1.

Director of General Crimes at Bareskrim Polri Brigadier General Djuhandhani Rahardjo Puro said Benny had negotiated regarding the time of examination. However, investigators did not agree and continued to schedule it on August 1.

The goal is for questions that arise in the community regarding the figure of T to be immediately revealed.

"He asked for the 5th, but we must immediately answer public questions. So we still ask for the 1st to attend the invitation (inspection)," said Djuhandhani.
