Accused Of Facilitating Child Predator, Snapchat Accusations Of Being Back By New Mexico Attorney General

JAKARTA Snap is accused of developing an unsafe platform because Snapchat recommends children's accounts systematically to child predators. However, Snapchat denied the allegations.

Some time ago, the attorney general in New Mexico stated that Snapchat created an unsafe environment for minors based on research results. Snap also defended itself by distorting allegations by the attorney general.

In the rejection motion that Snap filed on November 21, citing from The Verge, the company said that Attorney General RaZel Torrez made the wrong accusations. In fact, the prosecutor is accused of deliberately searching for a predatory account before creating a child's account.

Torrez previously explained that the 14-year-old fake account he made was easy to find by perpetrators of abuse. The predators on Snapchat are considered capable of harassment by collecting and storing pictures of minors.

Contrary to Torrez's claim, Snap stated that investigators who pretended to be minors were looking for and adding various predatory accounts, one of which was the Nud15Ans account belonging to someone named Enzo.

This government-made hoax account is also claimed to send anonymous messages through end-to-end encrypted services, not the other way around. The attorney general representing the government also briefly said that Snapchat suggested more than 91 predatory accounts after the hoax account connected to Enzo's account.

Snap, which is considered to have failed to make a report to law enforcement for not storing images of child sexual abuse, also provided a defense. According to the company, the storage of child sexual abuse (CSAM) material on the server violates federal law.

However, Snap still submits content leading to child sexual abuse to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, in accordance with applicable policies. Snap is trying to refute all allegations to drop the lawsuit.
