JAKARTA - A 43-year-old man who was on his way to pray at Philadelphia mosque was shot many times to death. A suspect is still at large, police said.

Police responded to a shooting report in block 1500 Germantown Avenue just before 5 p.m., Tuesday, July 30 local time.

The victim was found lying in the parking lot of the mosque with several gunshot wounds, Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said.

Police took the victim to a local hospital, where he was declared dead.

The shooter, who was wearing dark clothes, fled from the parking lot and got into the vehicle.

CCTV cameras recorded the shooting in the parking lot, Small said.

"You can clearly see the victim walking into this mosque to perform prayers. He walked with another man. You saw the shooter running behind the victim, and from a distance of a few meters, starting to open fire," Small said.

The shooter continued to shoot the victim who fell in the parking lot. The victim's name has not been released. The man who walked with the victim was said by the police to be injured.

Seventeen cartridges were found at the scene of the scene fired from a large-caliber semi-automatic weapon.
