JAKARTA - Komjen Pol Ahmad Luthfi admitted that he had not received the recommendation to become a candidate for governor (readgub) in the 2024 Central Java Governor and Deputy Governor Election (Pilgub). He reasoned that the handover of the position (sertijab) as inspector general (irjen) at the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) had not yet been carried out.

"Not yet (will accept or not). We have not received the certificate at the Ministry of Trade," said Luthfi at the National Police Headquarters, Monday, July 29.

According to him, the time for the certificate at the Ministry of Trade is not yet known and is still waiting.

"It's not still waiting for time. We're still in the process of handing over to the Regional Police yet," he said.

Previously, Gerindra Party Secretary General Ahmad Muzani said his party officially brought Central Java Police Chief Inspector General Ahmad Luthfi to run as governor in the 2024 Central Java gubernatorial election.

"For Central Java, Pak Prabowo decided that Inspector General of Police Ahmad Luthfi would become a candidate for governor of Central Java," he said, at the parliament complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday last week.

Muzani explained that the reason Gerindra brought Luthfi was because he was originally a Central Javanese. In addition, Luthfi has also been in Central Java for a long time.

"Pak Luthfi was chosen because he is the head of the Central Java Regional Police and has served there for a long time. He understands the conditions in Central Java and has prepared himself for this position," said Muzani at the parliament complex, Senayan, Jakarta, last Monday.
