Muhammadiyah Asks The Hajj Special Committee Not To Be Rided By Political Rivalities

JAKARTA - General Secretary of the Muhammadiyah Central Executive Board (PP) Abdul Mu'ti requested that the formation of the 2024 Hajj Angkat Special Committee (Pansus) in the DPR not for the sake of political rivalry.

Mu'ti assessed that the implementation of Hajj in 1445 Hijri or 2024 organized by the government went well with a number of achievements and improvements that were successfully inscribed.

"The implementation of the right of inquiry should be placed in the interest of improving the implementation and service of Hajj. Not for the interests or interests of individual political rivalry," said Mu'ti in a written statement quoted by ANTARA, Monday, July 29.

He also considers the formation of the 2024 Hajj Special Committee to reap the pros and cons. However, according to him, the formation of the Hajj Special Committee is the constitutional right of the DPR as part of the supervisory function of the government.

"I am following the media news, the implementation of this year's Hajj is better than the previous year," he said.

Previously, Deputy Speaker of the DPR and General Chair of the National Awakening Party (PKB) Muhaimin Iskandar ensured that the formation of the 2024 Hajj Angket Special Committee (Pansus) had nothing to do with PKB or the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU).

This was conveyed in order to refute the statement by the Head of PBNU Yahya Cholil Staquf who accused the 2024 Hajj Questionnaire Special Committee of attacking PBNU.

He emphasized that the 2024 Hajj Questionnaire Special Committee was rolled out by Commission VIII of the DPR to investigate allegations of misappropriation of Hajj visas.

On Sunday (28/7), General Chairperson of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board Yahya Cholil Staquf said his party was wondering about the 2024 Hajj Special Committee (Pansus), so he thought there was no strong reason for its formation.

Yahya believes that the decision to exist in the DPR's Hajj Hajj Special Committee regarding the implementation of the 2024 Hajj pilgrimage is related to the position of his younger brother, Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas and other issues that are not actually related to the pilgrimage.
