JAKARTA - A 56-year-old woman died while climbing near a state park in southwest Utah over the weekend after running out of water in the hot weather.
An emergency crew responded to the incident near Quail Creek State Park, on reports of a climber who did not have enough water and temperatures reaching 106 degrees Fahrenheit or 41 degrees Celsius.
The climber did not respond when a rescue team found him and life-saving measures were unsuccessful, police said.
The woman's death was one of several deaths believed to be linked to hot weather in the western United States over the past few weeks.
Three climbers died in the state and national parks in Utah the previous weekend, including a father and daughter from Wisconsin who got lost in a heavy climb in theuranlands National Park in a three-digit temperature.
