JAKARTA - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky respects Joe Biden's decision to withdraw from the 2024 US Presidential Election, praising his role and support for Ukraine during the conflict with Russia.

President Biden has decided to withdraw from the political contest that will be held on November 5, choosing to focus on his duties until his term ends on January 20, 2025, reported Reuters on July 22.

He then said he supported his vice president, Kamala Harris, to run in the 2024 US Presidential Election. Harris also thanked him for the support, stating her readiness to defeat Trump and unite the Democratic Party.

"We respect today's difficult but strong decision," President Zelensky tweeted on social media X, as quoted on July 22.

"Many strong decisions have been made in recent years and will be remembered as bold steps taken by President Biden in responding to difficult times," he continued.

President Zelensky thanked President Biden for his continued support for Ukraine's struggle, along with bipartisan support in the United States.

"Ukraine thanks President Biden for his unwavering support for Ukraine's struggle for independence," he said.

"We will always be grateful for President Biden's leadership. He stood by our country during the most dramatic moment in history, helped us prevent Putin from occupying our country, and continues to support us during this terrible war," he said.

Quoting the Kyiv Independent, under President Biden's administration, billions of US dollars have been allocated in the form of military aid packages to Ukraine since February 2022.
