Police Arrest Online Taxi Driver Perpetrators Of Harassment Of Disabled Women

JAKARTA - The police arrested an online taxi driver, In'amullah, for harassing his passenger with the initials C who is a woman with a disability.

Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Ade Ary Syam Indradi said the arrest of the online taxi driver was carried out after C made a police report on July 11.

"Yesterday, the Jatanras Sub-Directorate managed to secure the reported four-wheeled driver with the initials IA," Ade told reporters, Thursday, July 18.

The harassment began when the victim ordered an online taxi service to return to his home in the Tebet area, South Jakarta on July 8.

At that time, the suspect was the online taxi driver. There were no problems during the trip, but when he arrived at his destination, the suspect began to be rude.

"Arriving at the victim's goal, he asked permission for the perpetrator to be assisted to get out of the car. But the suspect replied, don't hold hands. Just carry it," said Ade, imitating the suspect's statement.

In fact, after being on the terrace of the house, the suspect actually got closer to the victim's body. Then, kiss him.

"Then it reached the terrace of the reported party, not returning to the car. Even facing his body at the victim and kissing the victim's cheek twice," said Ade.

Because the obscene act, the suspect now has to undergo detention as a form of accountability for his actions.

This driver was charged with Article 6 Juncto Article 15 of Law Number 12 of 2022 concerning the Crime of Sexual Violence for the alleged sexual harassment incident physically and faces a maximum sentence of 5 years in prison.
