PKB: Anies-Ahok Bad Combination

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairperson of PKB, Jazilul Fawaid, assessed that Anies Baswedan was not suitable if he was paired with PDI-P politician (PDIP), Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok in the 2024 Jakarta gubernatorial election.

Jazilul said PKB would wait for the map of the grand coalition to decide who would be the most suitable to accompany Anies in the Jakarta Pilkada. "What is clear is that the dynamics in DKI is still ongoing. But DKI PKB DPW has proposed Mr. Anies, that then there is another name like Mr. Ahok, it may be difficult for the party to carry Mr. Ahok," said Jazilul at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, July 17. "(Cawagub mandate, ed) Yes, there are many, but what is clear is that Mr. Anies-Ahok is not, the combination is not right, if Mr. Masinton may be right," he continued with a laugh. According to Jazilul, it is currently Anies' momentum to advance as an incumbent. Moreover, he said, Anies's survey has not yet beaten Jakarta.

"Right now, Mr. Anies' era, and the survey also remains to wait for the final discourse. Because DKI is definitely influenced by national political constalations," said Jazilul.

He did not deny that a recommendation letter for Anies had not been issued as a cagub carried in the Jakarta Pilkada because he was waiting for the coalition. Especially the coalition related to the elected President, Prabowo Subianto because it affects political constalations.

"One of them (has not issued a recommendation because of the influence of the Prabowo regime). But what is clear is that the coalition of other parties in DKI has not yet been seen. None of the coalitions have formed in DKI, but there are figures who are almost difficult to beat, namely Mr. Anies Baswedan," he explained.

Jazilul emphasized that PKB did not want to rush to declare Anies because the registration time was still quite long. "The time is still enough, we are not in a hurry to decide because we are waiting for a bigger map in DKI, a map of the coalition of other parties but if in a party, PKB has favored, considering seriously and even deciding for DKI, Mr. Anies Baswedan is progressing," he concluded.
