JAKARTA - Ukrainian power grid operator Ukrenergo has started an emergency shutdown of several consumers in seven areas amid record heat waves and following the failure of electrical supply equipment.
Russian missile and drone attacks on Ukraine's energy sector have been increasing since spring, resulting in power outages in many regions and forcing Kyiv to start large-scale electric imports from the European Union.
"Tonight there was a failure of equipment in one of the energy facilities. The energy deficit in the system is increasing," Ukrenergo said via the Telegram messaging application.
