2024 Pilkada Enters Rainy Season, KPU Borrows TNI Ships To Transport Logistics

JAKARTA - KPU's Coordinator of Planning, Finance, General, Household, and Logistics Division Yulianto Sudrajat said his party would borrow a ship belonging to the Indonesian Navy to distribute equipment or logistics for the 2024 Pilkada.

Given that the voting day for the 2024 Pilkada will be held on November 27. Where, at that time it had entered the rainy season. There are concerns that the KPU will experience bad weather problems if it sends pilkada logistics to the archipelago.

"We, the KPU, assisted by the TNI, Polri, and Navy, are also to be loaned ships to transport in various islands with high waves, because using ordinary ships is also worrying," Yulianto told reporters, Monday, July 15.

The KPU will also be assisted by the ranks of the TNI and Polri to secure procurement to the distribution of logistics for the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Head Elections. Currently, the logistics security pattern is still being coordinated.

"This election is almost all of Indonesia except in the DIY province and several regencies and cities in DKI. All of them organize regional elections, all of which become security patterns related to logistics procurement and distribution to polling stations," Yulianto explained.

"We will cooperate fully with the ranks of the TNI and Polri, such as in the 2024 election, in order to get support in remote areas such as in accessible areas difficult to reach," he added.

In general, Yulianto said that the electoral logistics specifications in the 2024 Pilkada were still the same as in the previous election.

"After all, what we carried out in the 2024 election has also been tested quite well, the box is also good, the booth is good, the ballot is also good. In fact, this logistics challenge is actually in the distribution aspect," said Yulianto.

As an election organizer, the KPU must distribute logistics to nearly 800 thousand polling stations (TPS) throughout Indonesia. Meanwhile, not all areas have a smooth distribution field. Not to mention if there are areas affected by the disaster.

"This is hard work that is needed when the distribution process which is carried out in stages starting from the central KPU, goes directly to the city district because the warehouse is in districts/cities," he added.
