The Head Of Gus Irawan's Cassation Was Rejected By The Supreme Court, The South Tapanuli KPU: Final Decision

JAKARTA - The Supreme Court (MA) rejected the cassation of the candidate pair for Regent and Deputy Regent of South Tapanuli Number 1 Gus Irawan Pasaribu - Jafar Syahbuddin Ritonga. The chairman of the General Election Commission (KPU) of South Tapanuli, Zulhajjji Siregar, emphasized that this decision is final and binding. This decision closes further legal opportunities related to the dispute over the South Tapanuli Pilkada.

"We have received a copy of the Supreme Court's decision this morning. With this decision, the dispute over the TUN Pilkada process has been completed and other legal remedies cannot be made," said Zulhajjji at the South Tapanuli KPU Office, Siprikok, Thursday, November 21 in a written statement received by VOI. He was accompanied by the Head of the Law and Supervision Division of the South Tapanuli KPU, Khoirun Sholih Harahap.

The Supreme Court's decision, issued on November 19, 2024 with Number 818 K/TUN/Pilkada/2024, was led by the Chairman of the Panel of Judges Irfan Fachrudin, along with members of Yodi Martono Wahyunadi and Bright Bangun. The clerk in this case is Dr. Maftuh Efendi, SH, MH.

Zulhajjji explained that the Supreme Court's decision proves that the process of replacing the prospective Deputy Regent candidate from Ahmad Buchori to Parulian Nasution has been carried out in accordance with applicable legal procedures, procedures, and mechanisms.

The South Tapanuli KPU works based on the principles of justice, transparency, and accountability. This decision is proof that there are no violations of the law in the stages we carry out," he said.

He also emphasized that the South Tapanuli KPU remains committed to maintaining neutrality and quality in the implementation of the South Tapanuli Pilkada. "We will continue to prioritize democracy and openness," added Zulhajjji.

Previously, the lawsuit between the pair Gus Irawan - Jafar Syahbuddin against the South Tapanuli KPU was rejected by the Medan State Administrative High Court (PTTUN). The lawsuit was filed because they objected to the determination of candidate pair Number 2 Urut, Dolly Pasaribu - Parulian Nasution.

With this Supreme Court final decision, the South Tapanuli KPU ensures that the Pilkada process in South Tapanuli can be continued without legal barriers. "We hope that all parties can accept this decision and support the democratic Pilkada," concluded Zulhajjji.
