A spokesman for the Polish Coal Mining Group told The Associated Press that the mine had collapsed due to a strong earthquake yesterday, causing one miner to die, while 17 others were injured.
A total of 78 miners were on site when the landslide occurred after an earthquake measuring 3.1 on a Richter scale with a depth of 1,200 meters hit Poland yesterday morning.
Most of the miners were rescued quickly, including 17 victims who are now hospitalized. Meanwhile, another miner when taken out of the mine area affected by the landslide was declared dead.
