Facing Cyber Crime, Police Recruit 45 Candidates For Officers

JAKARTA - The National Police has recruited 45 prospective officers who will be specially prepared to fight cybercrime.

Assistant Chief of Police for Human Resources or As HR of the National Police Chief, Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo, said that recruitment was through the SIPS (Student Police Inspector of Sources of Bachelors) route.

"These 45 prospective officers consist of 38 men and 7 women. They are recruited by the SIPSS route," said Dedi in his statement, Friday, July 12.

Dozens of prospective officers have higher educational backgrounds and have abilities in cyberspace. However, they still have to undergo education at the Police Academy, Semarang.

"They have Computer Engineering capabilities, Informatics Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, Visual Communication Design, Agents/Technology/Siber/Interceptional Economy, Cryptography Engineering, Cryptography and Cyber Security Engineering," he said.

"So we recruit these 45 prospective officers regularly and proactively," continued Dedi.

This step was taken to strengthen personnel in the field of technology and information, according to the direction of the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, who asked the Bhayangkara Corps to be able to face challenges in the future.

The challenge in question is crimes or disturbances in security and order (kamtibmas) not only occur in the field, but also in the virtual world.

"The National Police's SSDM, according to its duties and functions, and of course according to the direction of the National Police Chief, recruited personnel to strengthen the ability to fight cybercrime," said Dedi.
