Clean Water Enters IKN July 15, Minister Basuki Estimates Jokowi Can Have An Office After July 22

JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono ensures that clean water and electricity supplies are ready before President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) starts based in the capital city of the archipelago (IKN).

Basuki explained that the clean water testing process will begin on July 15 and on July 18 he will directly check the results of the distribution of water at IKN.

"I've always said that in mid-July the water will enter. (Meanwhile) the electricity has entered," said Basuki on the sidelines of the release of the Indonesian Team's departure to the 2024 Paris Olympics in the courtyard of the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday, July 10, which was confiscated by Antara.

According to him, those who have just held a meeting related to energy and communication infrastructure for IKN, the area of Indonesia's new capital city has received electricity supply of 10 megawatts.

"Telkom and PLN reported that the 10 MW (electric supply) was okay. What is currently being built is the next 40 MW," said Basuki.

If the water and electricity supply is ready, said Basuki, President Jokowi is expected to start based at IKN after July 22, 2024.

"Later (the President) will go to Papua (to attend the commemoration) of Children's Day. After that, God willing, he will go there (IKN)," he said.

However, regarding the exact time when President Jokowi will be based in IKN, Basuki asked reporters to ask Jokowi directly.

"Yes, ask him, ask me," he said.

Previously, President Jokowi said he was still waiting for the readiness of supporting infrastructure to have an office in IKN.

"Is the water ready yet? Is the electricity ready yet? Is the place ready yet? If you are ready, move," said President Jokowi when giving a press statement after releasing Indonesia's aid for disaster management in Papua New Guinea and Afghanistan, at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta, Monday 8 July.

The President admitted that he had received a report from the Minister of PUPR regarding infrastructure readiness at IKN, such as water, electricity to the President's office to be occupied.

From the report, the President received reports that the infrastructure was not ready to be utilized.

"We have (received the report), but not yet (ready). Already, but not yet," said the President when asked by the media crew about the infrastructure readiness report from the Ministry of PUPR.
