JAKARTA - Russian electric car manufacturer Evolute launched the country's first i-Space hybrid crossover series, factory management partner Andrei Reznikov said.

"The first car has been assembled since last week. The cars have been certified and received vehicle type approval. This means that both cars and the car production process meet all requirements for Russian certification," Reznikov said as quoted by ANTARA from Sputnik, Monday, July 8.

The i-Space crossover was introduced at the international industry exhibition Innoprom in the Russian city of Yekaterinburg, on the same day, said a Sputnik correspondent.

"There will be various configuration rates. The basic one will cost around 2.9 million rubles (32,749 US dollars) or around Rp532 million with an exchange rate of 1 US dollar=Rp16,260,-). A more appropriate price will be announced next week," added Reznikov.

The Evolute model series consists of five cars, including i-Pro sedans, i-Sky crossover and i-Joy, i-Van mini-van, and i-Space hybrid crossover. Reznikov said the company was considering turning all vehicles into hybrids.

Reznikov also said it plans to increase production at its car factory in the Russian city of Lipetsk, from 2000 cars last year to around 3,000 cars this year. This was done by citing high demand for cars with a hybrid driving system in Russia, Reznikov said.
