The Capim Pansel And The KPK Council Are Asked To Actively Approach Figures Who Are Trusted By The Public

JAKARTA - Indonesia Calling (IM) 57+ Institute asks the Selection Committee (Pansel) for Candidates for Leadership and Supervisory Board of the KPK to pick up the ball. They are asked to be a figure who is considered still trusted by the public to lead the institution.

"With the low interest of registrants due to the low public trust in the KPK, the KPK Pansel which has not yet gained full public trust must be able to reverse this perception by proving that it will be able to produce candidates with integrity," said Chairman of the IM 57+ Institute, Praswad Nugraha, to reporters in a written statement, Saturday, July 6, 2024.

"One of them is through unusual efforts, including picking up the ball by approaching figures who are deemed to be able to achieve public trust," said the former employee of the Anti-corruption Commission.

However, this approach cannot be done carelessly. Praswad reminded the importance of seeing the track records of the figures who would be approached.

"The indicators are clear, starting from the absence of corruption cases to having a track record capable of carrying out institutional transformation," he said.

Praswad said picking up a ball like this is not something to be expected.

"In fact, with minimal conditions, public registrants and trust have decreased into an obligation," he said.

Furthermore, the Capim Pansel and the KPK Council were asked to be careful in choosing the person who would be handed over to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

Do not let any more leaders violate ethics to make public trust in this institution weaken again.

"The elected KPK leadership must be an extraordinary figure who will also do extraordinary work to at least restore public trust. Without a good KPK leader, this vision will be achieved further and further," said Praswad.

In addition, Jokowi must also have the will to hand over the best name to the DPR RI later.

"If it does not encourage good candidates, it will be recorded in history as a president who left a bad story for eradicating corruption," he said.

Diberitakan sebelumnya, pendaftaran Capim dan calon Dewas KPK dibuka selama 20 hari, yaitu pada 26 Juni hingga 15 Juli 2024. Pendaftar harus terlebih dahulu membuat akun di laman https://apel.setneg.go.id/.

The enthusiast will go through the registration process and other stages of selection. Then, 10 names of Capim and 10 names of candidates for the KPK Council will be submitted to President Joko Widodo to be forwarded to the DPR.

Most recently, the Chairman of the Capim Pansel and the KPK Council, M. Yusuf Ateh, said that more than 50 people had registered. In detail, 40 of them want to be a candidate for leadership.
