Puan Considers Kaesang In Central Java Gubernatorial Election, Hasto: Megawati's Mother Decides

Secretary General of the PDI-P (PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto said PDIP DPP chairman Puan Maharani was a figure who embraced her to show unity.

This was conveyed when he was asked about Puan Maharani's statement considering the Chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) Kaesang Pangarep in the Central Java gubernatorial election (Central Java). According to Hasto, Puan is natural to show this attitude because she is also the Chair of the DPR RI in addition to becoming an elite party.

"Ya Mbak Puan kan tentu saja sebagai sosok yang merangkul, sosok yang memimpin seluruh faksi dan anggota DPR RI, ya tentu saja memiliki suatu sikap yang membangun persatuan," kata Hasto kepada wartawan di Sekolah Partai DPP PDIP, Lenteng Agung, Jakarta, dikutip Sabtu, 6 Juli.

Even so, Hasto said that Puan's statement did not just become a party decision. He said, everything would be handed over to the Chairperson of the PDIP Megawati Soekarnoputri.

"In the party, all elements, the DPP provides input and then it will be processed and finally the General Chairperson will make a decision," he said.

Previously reported, PDI-P DPP Chair Puan Maharani claimed that her party was considering the Chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) Kaesang Pangarep in the 2024 Central Java Regional Head Election (Pilkada). This was in response to the results of the electability survey of President Joko Widodo's youngest son (Jokowi) who skyrocketed.

"Yes, so that's one of the considerations too," said Puan at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, July 2.

The chairman of the DPR also has no problem with Kaesang's electability being superior to the Chairman of the Central Java PDIP DPD Bambang Wuryanto alias Bambang Pacul. Meanwhile, Bambang Pacul is predicted to be promoted to the 2024 Central Java Pilkada.

"It's okay (Kaesang's electability excels Bambang Pacul, ed). Good Kaesang," said Puan.
