JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, responded to public pressure that Budi Arie Setiadi resign from his position as Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) after a cyber attack on the Temporary National Data Center (PDNS) 2 in Surabaya, East Java (East Java).

"The minister is the person who helps the president. So, as long as he does not carry out his duties optimally, the president may evaluate it," said Puan at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, July 4, which was confiscated by Antara.

Previously, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) conveyed an answer to the pressure of a number of parties who asked Budi Arie Setiadi to resign from his position as Minister of Communication and Information.

PDNS 2 in Surabaya experienced a cyber attack in the form of ransomware called Brain Chiper, the latest variant of Lockbit 3.0. At its peak, PDNS began to be inaccessible since Thursday, June 20, which resulted in public services being inaccessible, including immigration services.

SAFEnet said, there were at least 282 government agencies using PDNS who were affected by the cyber attack.

The government is targeting the recovery of the PDNS 2 cyber attack in Surabaya to be completed this month.
