Four pro-Palestinian protesters were arrested for climbing over the roof of the Australian Parliament building.

Protesters stood on the roof of a building in Canberra for about an hour, unfurling black banners including those that read "Palestinian will be free", a general statement made by Pro Palestinian protesters.

One of the protesters oriented using a megaphone that said the Israeli government had committed war crimes.

"We will not forget, we will not forgive and we will continue to fight," the protesters said.

Police and security advise people not to walk directly under protesters at the main entrance of the building. While more people were seen on the roof trying to get rid of the protesters.

Protesters packed their banners before being taken away by police who waited around 11.30 local time.

The four people were arrested and charged with offenses, and banned from entering the parliament building for two years, a spokesman for the Australian Capital City Police said.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese condemned the protesters' actions.

Those responsible must fully feel the power of the law. Peace protests have an important place in our society, but this is not a peaceful protest," he said.
