Israel rejects Trump's Gaza peace plan, Hamas says it will abide by deal

JAKARTA - The Palestinian militant group Hamas reaffirmed its commitment to adhere to the road map to continue the second phase of Donald Trump's Gaza peace plan despite the Israeli regime's rejection of the plan.

In its statement, Hamas expressed its seriousness "to be involved responsibly" in the implementation of the 15-point plan and to draw up a clear schedule for its implementation.

"The priority at this stage should be to ensure the implementation of all stages and obligations in the agreement," Hamas said, quoted by ANTARA from Anadolu, Monday, August 10.

The organization stated that the process (the peace plan) must lead to a permanent ceasefire, the end of Israeli attacks, the full withdrawal of Zionist forces, the reopening of borders, and the entry of humanitarian aid and supplies for refugee needs.

The process must also pave the way for the start of the reconstruction process in Gaza and for the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG) to immediately carry out its authority.

Hamas called on mediators, guarantors, and the Board of Peace (BoP) to "shoulder their responsibilities" in ensuring that all parties comply with the agreement and prevent violations that could disrupt implementation or thwart the ceasefire.

The Palestinian group also expressed its commitment to continue to engage "positively and responsibly" in efforts to resolve the implementation of the agreement, end the suffering of the Palestinian people in Gaza, and "protect their national rights and interests".

Earlier on the same day, the head of the Israeli Authority Benjamin Netanyahu expressed Israel's rejection of the 15-point plan passed by the Peace Council for Gaza.

He said Israeli forces would not withdraw from Palestinian territory until the full disarmament of Hamas was implemented.
