BANDUNG - Pedi Setiawan's legal team confirmed that his client was suspected of being a victim of wrongful arrest by the West Java (West Java) Police in reading the pretrial trial lawsuit held at the Bandung District Court (PN).

Pedi Setiawan's attorney, Insank Nasaruddin, assessed that the West Java Regional Police did not have enough strong evidence to determine his client as a suspect.

"We prioritize the determination of this suspect that what we value here is one person, wrong target, wrong object, or error in persona. That is what we are under pressure in this application at this pretrial hearing," said Insank in Bandung as reported by ANTARA, Monday, July 1.

Insank said the West Java Regional Police did not have two strong pieces of evidence to determine Pegi Setiawan as a suspect. If he does not have the two pieces of evidence, he asks his client to be released immediately.

"But there must be relevant evidence. This means that the two pieces of evidence must be valid, meaning that if they are not valid, then the only way is to free Pegi Setiawan," he said.

He said that the Peti Setiawan or Perong announced by the West Java Regional Police as a wanted list (DPO) was different from the physical characteristics, age, to the address of his client's house.

"Is Pegi appropriate? We think not. Because Peti Setiawan with Pegi Perong are two different people," he said.

"We need fair law enforcers who uphold the law as commanders," said Insank.

The pretrial hearing will continue on Tuesday (2/7) with the agenda of reading the answer by the respondent, namely the West Java Regional Police for the lawsuit of the legal team of Pegi Setiawan.
