JAKARTA - A man who was fishing in Florida was bitten by a shark until his arm was badly injured.

The man, in his 40s, was on board at the time of the attack on Friday, June 28, at West Rock near port of Fernandina, SheriffISH County spokesman Alicia Tarancon said.

An officer in response boarded the man's boat and put a touriquet on his right arm to slow the bleeding, Tarancon said.

Petuags then directed the boat to the beach, where the rescue crew was waiting.

The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition. "He is expected to recover," said Tarancon.

The attack came after a surfer and famous coast guard were killed by sharks in Hawaii a few days earlier.
