JAKARTA - Commission III of the DPR held a working meeting with the leadership of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). Member of Commission III of the DPR Johan Budi said his party would ask about the obstacles that occurred at the KPK, both internally and externally.

This was conveyed by Johan because the KPK became the lowest positive image fund institution in a survey compiled by Litbang Kompas some time ago.

"The eighth KPK, far below the National Police, the Prosecutor's Office and even the DPR are better than the KPK. This is a survey, of course perceptions. This is what is in public perception. Are there obstacles that occur either within the KPK itself or between the KPK and other law enforcers?," said Johan, Monday, July 1.

According to the PDIP politician, today's meeting is the right time for the KPK to express obstacles to the DPR. The reason is, the current leadership of the KPK will soon retire and the DPR for this period will end soon.

"Maybe it needs to be conveyed because we are being witnessed by the public. Maybe it needs to be conveyed openly, what are the obstacles, what is happening at the KPK in carrying out its functions, its authority, be it in the field of prosecution, monitoring, supervision, coordination and also related to education and community services," said Johan Budi.

Johan assessed that the KPK needs to disclose it to Commission III of the DPR if there are steps that must be taken immediately by the KPK and parties who have relevance.

"Perhaps there are very crucial things, both the handling of cases, be it the supervisory function, how is the relationship between the KPK and the Police, the AGO, the KPK with other parties such as BPKP, BPK, are there obstacles? Including a decrease in public perception of the KPK," concluded Johan.

It is known, the results of the Kompas Research and Development poll on 27 May-2 June 2024 show that the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is the institution with the lowest positive image.

According to the survey, the KPK received a positive image assessment of 56.1 percent. Meanwhile, 33.4 percent said it was bad and 10.5 percent said they did not know.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian National Army (TNI) became an institution with a positive image based on the survey. The survey showed that 89.8 percent considered the TNI to have a good image. Only 2.9 percent said it was bad and 7.3 percent did not know.
