JAKARTA - The Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) reported that 234 Indonesian Hajj Pilgrims died in Saudi Arabia during the 1445 H/2024 M pilgrimage.
"Based on data from the Integrated Hajj Information and Computerization System (Siskohat) at 09.24 WIB, there were 234 Indonesian pilgrims who died," said Hajj Media Center (MCH) Officer of the Ministry of Religion Widi Dwinanda as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, June 25.
Widi said the average age of pilgrims who died was between 60-70 years.
"When compared to last year, there was a decrease in the number of pilgrims who died on the same day, where in 2023 469 people died, while this year there are 234 people," he said.
According to him, Indonesian pilgrims who died in the Holy Land received treatment according to procedures, and a Certificate of Death (COD) certificate would be made.
"After the administration is prepared, then it is submitted to mashariq or maktab for the restoration process," he said.
Meanwhile, said Widi, the Ministry of Religion also noted that 21,723 pilgrims and officers had been flown to the country, who were members of 55 flying groups.
