Explosion At Duren Sawit Iron Rak Shop, 1 Employee Burned

JAKARTA - An iron partition rack shop on Jalan I Gusti Ngurah Rai, Klender Village, Duren Sawit District, East Jakarta, caught fire on Friday, June 21, afternoon.

The cause of the fire was due to an explosion of a 3-kilogram subsidized gas cylinder that had a leak. As a result of the incident, a resident named Solihin (35) suffered burns to his hands and body.

"One victim named Solihin suffered burns to part of his body and hands," Hendro, a store employee, told reporters.

According to Hendro, the incident occurred at around 12.30 WIB when the victim was checking the gas cylinder measuring 3 Kg which had a leak.

"The victim again fixed the gas cylinder measuring 3 kg which was leaking because there was a smell of gas. Suddenly there was a fire strike and it exploded," he said.

Hendro suspects that the fire strike came from an oven machine because at the time of the incident his party was carrying out the process of painting an iron rack using an oven.

"It exploded at the back, not far from the oven. There was a fire, then it was managed to extinguish it independently using water," he said.

The victim was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital by his family.

"I don't know which hospital the victim was taken to. His brother immediately took him," he said.

East Jakarta Fire and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Sub-Department officers also came to the location with two fire engines.

However, because the fire had been extinguished and the victim had been taken to the hospital, the firefighters only collected data.
