PALEMBANG - South Sumatra Police officers rescued a housewife who was about to jump into the Musi river, Palembang, after receiving a report through the police assistance application (Banpol).
The Head of Public Relations of the South Sumatra Police, Kombes Sunarto, said that there were reports of residents entering the Banpol application, Wednesday, June 12, 2024 night, saying that a housewife (IRT) was about to jump into the Musi river from the Musi lV Palembang bridge.
"After the report on the Banpol application, officers through the Ilir Barat II Police went straight to the location and gave treatment, finally the IRT did not jump into the Musi river," he said confirmed in Palembang, Antara, Thursday, June 13.
Currently, his party has submitted the IRT to the health office for psychological treatment and counseling.
He said that since the South Sumatra Police launched the Banpol application, his party has succeeded in thwarting the suicide attempt by three residents three times.
"“Alhamdulillah, since its launch in October 2022, this Banpol application has succeeded in rescuing three people who want to commit suicide, at the same location on the Musi IV Palembang bridge," he said.
He appealed to the public to use the Banpol application to convey complaints or reports that require police services and operators ready to serve, standby 1 x 24 hours.
