JAKARTA - Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and Jordanian partner Ayman Safadi urged Israel to comply with UN Security Council resolutions regarding plans to end the war in Gaza.
Speaking at a joint press conference in Jordan on Tuesday, Foreign Minister Safadi said international law credibility was at stake if Israel refused to comply with the resolution.
"As long as Israel continues to carry out aggression, Israel will increasingly become a pariah country," Foreign Minister Safadi added.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Shoukry stated that the Security Council resolution is obligatory and must be respected".
The UN Security Council on Monday supported a proposal outlined by US President Joe Biden for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
The resolution was welcomed by Hamas and rivals to the Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. However, mediators Qatari and Egypt have yet to receive an official reply from Hamas or Israel against a UN-backed ceasefire proposal, an official close to the talks told Reuters.
Meanwhile at the same news conference, UN aid chief Martin Griffith said the situation in Rafah City, southern Gaza had turned into a "further nightmare than expected".

Griffith added that if allegations that the US-owned Gaza pier was used in Israeli military operations in Rafah were true, "it is very concerning".
The joint press conference took place shortly after an international conference discussing the humanitarian response to Gaza ended in Jordan.
Jordan's Foreign Minister said the conference urged the opening of border crossings in Gaza, saying that the obstacles made by Israel were "international law violations".
