BKSDA Calls The Condition Of Sun Bears Entangled In Mines In Mukomuko Palm Oil Gardens Improves

BENGKULU - Bengkulu Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) said the condition of an adult sun bear entangled in a rope mining at an oil palm plantation in Mukomuko Regency on Saturday, June 8 is currently starting to improve.

Head of the Bengkulu and Lampung Permansyah BKSDA Forest Police said the bear is currently being treated at the North Bengkulu Elephant Training Center (PLG).

"Currently the bear is at PLG Seblat for treatment. For the bear's condition is in good health, it's just that there was a minor injury to his hands due to being caught in a rope snare," he said in Bengkulu City, Monday, June 10, which was confiscated by Antara.

Pirmansyah admitted that his party was waiting for directions from the leadership regarding the follow-up to whether the sun bear was released wildly and so on.

Previously, the Bengkulu BKSDA had evacuated a female adult sun bear mother entangled in a rope mining that was installed by residents at the oil palm plantation site in Sido Mulyo Village, Penarik District.

The location of the entangled bear is in the Limited Production Forest (HPT) Air Dikit area and is directly adjacent to the garden of PT Agro Muko Sungai Jerinjing, Mukomuko Regency.

The adult sun bear has been caught in snares by residents for the past five days and has suffered injuries to the right wrist.

Due to this incident, the Bengkulu BKSDA asked the entire community not to catch or trap a sun bear, considering that the sun bear is a protected animal and its condition is now starting to be threatened with extinction due to hunting.
