Padang District Court Judge Allegedly Violating Ethics Threatens Activities Reported To KY And West Sumatra Police

The Padang District Court (PN) respects the Padang Legal Aid Institute (LBH) report against a judge to the Judicial Commission (KY) and the West Sumatra Regional Police (Polda).

The report relates to Padang District Court Judge Basman allegedly violating the code of ethics and code of conduct of the judge.

"We appreciate the reports made by LBH Padang to KY and the West Sumatra Regional Police," said Padang Class 1A Public Relations Officer Juandra in Padang, in West Sumatra, Monday, June 10, which was confiscated by Antara.

Based on the Padang LBH report, the Padang District Court also ensured that it would open up space for the authorities to follow up on the report.

Regarding the report of Judge Basman to KY and the West Sumatra Regional Police, he said the Padang District Court had traced it through an internal supervisor, namely the Supervisory Agency (Bawas).

The Padang District Court is also still waiting for the mechanisms and examinations carried out by Bawas or KY against Judge Basman to be reported to KY regarding alleged violations of the Supreme Court Regulation (Perma), and allegations of threats against two Padang LBH activists.

"So, of course, it is the authorities who will determine whether they will be guilty or not," he said.

At the same time, the Padang District Court also ensured that the reported judge was still on duty as usual or tried the cases that entered the judiciary.

Meanwhile, the Director of LBH Padang Indira Suryani said that the report against Judge Basman began with legal assistance by LBH Padang together with Conscience of Women against a child victim of sexual violence.

In the trial chaired by Judge Basman, said Indira, the judge often blamed the 16-year-old victim. In fact, during the trial, the judge reported also made several sentences that LBH considered inappropriate in accordance with Perma's provisions Number 3 of 2017 concerning guidelines for judging women's cases in conflict with the law.
