JAKARTA - Simple but can improve comfort, that's what one of the airlines in India has launched a feature that allows female passengers to see other women's seats, when choosing seats for its flights.

In a statement, the low-cost airline IndiGo Airlines offered the feature as a trial for female passengers who check-in flights online.

The airline, which was founded in 2006, operates more than 2,000 domestic and international flights per day in India.

IndiGo said the feature, which will be available to women traveling alone or as part of booking family tickets, is in line with their "ethos #GirlPower".

"IndiGo is proud to announce the launch of a new feature aimed at making the travel experience more comfortable for our female passengers," the airline said.

"We are committed to providing an unrivaled travel experience for all of our passengers, and this new feature is just one of the many steps we have taken to achieve that goal," the airline said.

Although the airline did not give a reason to give women the option of looking at other women's seats, attacks on women and children during commercial flights were reported regularly around the world.

In the US, on-plane crimes are included in the FBI jurisdiction. In a report released in April aimed at raising awareness about on-plane sexual assault, it was stated that it had opened 96 cases of on-plane sexual assault by 2023.

"The sexual attack on the plane, which is usually an unwanted touch, is a serious crime that can put the offender in prison," the report said.

"Usually, men are the perpetrators, and women and minors who are not accompanied by adults are victims," he continued.
