Police Arrest Fraud Perpetrators At Soetta Airport With Hypnotic Mode To Exchange ATM Cards

TANGERANG - Police arrested three perpetrators of fraudulent ATM card exchange with hypnotized mode acting at Soekarno Hatta Airport, Tangerang City. The three perpetrators were arrested after reports from a victim, Dedy Ismawan.

It happened on Thursday, October 26, the arrests of the new perpetrators were officially held by the Soekarno Hatta Airport Police today, Friday, June 7, 2024.

Deputy Chief of Police of Soekarno Hatta Airport, AKBP Ronald Sipayung explained that the victim was deceived by the perpetrator when he met at a hotel near Soetta Airport, at night.

The three perpetrators with the initials IA (29), SS (31) and S (49) met the victim in the hotel parking area not far from Soetta Airport.

"The mode is influential and we can say that this is indeed a process of hypnosis so that without realizing it, the victim follows what the perpetrators are directing," Ronald told reporters at the Soetta Airport Police, Tangerang City, Friday, June 7.

The perpetrator IA claimed to be a Foreign Citizen (WNA) of Brunai Darussalam, approached the victim and talked about business.

"The perpetrator offered to sell cellphones to the victim. This perpetrator has a mobile phone seller community in the Tanjung Priok area. The victim is starting to be tempted by the perpetrator's offer," he said.

To believe the victim, the perpetrator used a Malay accent.

The perpetrator also invited the victim to go to Terminal 3 of Soekarno Hatta Airport, using his car, which at that time was driven by SS accompanied by S.

While in the car, the perpetrator continued to deceive the victim with a big promise of profit.

Arriving at Terminal 3 of Soetta Airport, the victim and the perpetrator went to the ATM machine. At that time, the perpetrator saw the victim's ATM password.

"The perpetrator also saw pressing the number of 6 digits of the ATM after the victim found out that the perpetrator's PIN was memorizing," he said.

After the meeting, the victims were again escorted by the perpetrators to the Rawa Bokor hotel. At that time, the victim realized that his ATM card had been exchanged.

After completing the delivery of the victim to the hotal, the perpetrators returned to the ATM machine and immediately transferred the money the victim had to his personal account.

Long story short, the victim's balance has decreased a lot.

"The balance has decreased by Rp. 168,387,000," he said

The victim immediately reported to the Soekarno Hatta Airport Police, Friday, October 27, 2023.

The perpetrators were arrested at different locations, and the case has been transferred to the Prosecutor's Office.

The perpetrators were charged with Article 378 of the Criminal Code and 372 of the Criminal Code.
