Kapolda: Brimob Nusantara Assigned To Secure Pilkada In Papua

JAYAPURA - Papua Police Chief Inspector General Mathius Fakhiri said that his party had asked the National Police Headquarters for help to assign Brimob Nusantara to assist in securing the implementation of the regional elections in Papua.

"The Nusantara Brimob will be alerted in several areas to facilitate shifts in the event of a security disturbance. However, it has not been confirmed that the number of Brimob Nusantara personnel who are assisted to secure the regional elections," said Papua Police Chief Inspector General Mathius Fakhiri in Jayapura as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, June 6.

In addition to asking for help from the National Police Headquarters, his party has also begun to prepare personnel in the ranks of the Papua Regional Police and the Resort Police.

Preparations continue to be made to anticipate various possibilities of security disturbances.

"In addition to preparing personnel, community and religious leaders and parties are also approached so that they can eliminate security disturbances," he said.

The Papua Police Chief hopes that the community will participate in maintaining security and not easily provoked by the issues spread by irresponsible groups.

"Let us all maintain security starting from the area of residence so that the implementation of the regional elections is always safe," said the Papuan Police Chief.

The Papuan Police currently oversees 29 Polres and Polresta spread across four provinces, namely Papua Province, Papua Mountains, Central Papua and South Papua.
