The Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimsus) of the West Java Police has arrested nine suspects in online fraud cases with the mode of theft of credit card identity data with a loss of Rp. 2 billion.
The Head of Public Relations of the West Java Police, Kombes Jules Abraham Abast, said that his party received as many as four police reports related to the case.
"The suspects committed acts of stealing credit card identity data by calling the victim. They confessed from the bank and asked for the identity data of the victim's credit card," Jules said in Bandung, reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, June 5.
The suspects used the victim's credit card data to make transactions on online shopping sites, then the victim also received a bill of payments sent from the bank.
"Which resulted in the victims experiencing material losses due to transactions on shopping sites using information on the victim's credit card data," he said.
The police arrested nine suspects with the initials DR, F, J, RR, W, RW, AL, AD, NE at a house in South Jakarta on May 15, 2024.
"Currently, investigators have examined approximately 20 witnesses who have been questioned," Jules said.

"The suspects face a maximum imprisonment of 12 years and/or a maximum fine of Rp12 billion," Jules said.
