DPRD Asks DKI Provincial Government To Build Special Flats For Persons With Disabilities

JAKARTA - Member of Commission D of the DKI Jakarta DPRD Panji Virgianto asked the DKI Provincial Government to build flats (rusun) specifically for people with disabilities.

Bearing in mind, currently the need for housing for people with disabilities in Jakarta is 8 percent.

According to Panji, the Public Housing and Settlement Areas Office needs to make this happen because it has been mandated in Article 70 letter (i) in Regional Regulation (Perda) Number 4 of 2022 concerning the Implementation of Respect, Protection, and Fulfillment of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

"The regional regulation that has been formed is immediately implemented. Immediately make a study on building flats for disabilities. Set the location," said Panji in his statement, Wednesday, June 5.

Based on the data collected, the DKI Jakarta Public Housing and Settlement Area Service has only provided 94 disability housing units spread across 29 rental flats (Rusunawa) in Jakarta.

In fact, the DKI Provincial Government has 32,378 units of 149 towers and 82 flat blocks spread across five administrative cities in Jakarta.

Therefore, according to Panji, the provision of rusunawa for disability groups has not met the 8 percent housing needs that have been agreed upon in the regional regulation.

"The existing development is full, so it is better to plan it carefully, so that the targets of several units must be met," said Panji.

According to him, the flats that were ads during uni did not meet the criteria for supporting facilities and infrastructure for disabilities.

In my opinion, the current flats are not adequate. It's better to design and build new people with disabilities," said Panji.
