MERAUKE - Vice President (Vice President) Ma'ruf Amin asked for the budget allocation in Papua to be transparent and accountable so that it was really used to improve the welfare of the local community.
"We want the budget that has been given, allocated into something. Don't spend the budget like this, the budget is big but there is no form in the development," said the Vice President during the "Face-to-face and Dialogue of the Government and the People of South Papua Province" event in Merauke Regency, South Papua, reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, June 4.
The Vice President reminded that the allocation of the appropriate budget, namely for the needs of the community, is a challenge.
"We want now when the budget comes out, comes in here, to Papua, there is a form, indeed for the welfare of the Papuan people. This is what our challenges are now," he said.
Ma'ruf Amin also emphasized that budget accountability involves all parties, especially for the ranks of the Steering Committee for the Acceleration of Special Autonomy Development for Papua (BP3OKP).
"The responsibility, I am also the director, the Minister of Home Affairs, including the Acting Governor, and all regents, this must really be that the budget exists," said the Vice President.
Therefore, the Vice President requested that all parties, from the Acting Governor to the regents, be able to clearly show the results of the allocated budget. According to him, if the special autonomy budget (otsus) has been determined, the results must be seen by the public.
"Do not let the budget be declared that it has been budgeted for by special autonomy, but it does not exist," said the Vice President.
To ensure transparency and accountability, the Vice President also emphasized the existence and supervisory function of the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP).
