TNI Ready To Send Peace Troops To Task In Gaza

Head of the Indonesian Armed Forces Information Center (Kapuspen) Maj. Gen. Nugraha Gumilar said his party was ready to send troops to carry out peace missions in Gaza, Palestine.

This was said by Gumilar when responding to Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto's statement that he would deploy the TNI in the peace mission.

"The TNI is ready to carry out the task of peace operations under the UN flag wherever it is ordered by the state," said Gumilar as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, June 3.

According to Gumilar, this task must be carried out because it has been listed in the fourth paragraph of the opening of the 1945 Constitution.

However, Gumilar has not been able to explain how many troops will be deployed. He also has not explained when the deployment of peacekeepers to Gaza will take place.

Previously, Prabowo said Indonesia was ready to contribute more in creating peace in the midst of the raging conflict in Gaza. In fact, Prabowo admitted that the TNI was ready to carry out the peace mission under the auspices of the United Nations (UN).

"We are also ready to immediately send medical personnel to operate field hospitals in Gaza with the approval of all parties. Indonesia is also very willing to evacuate and care for injured Palestinians and those who need treatment at Indonesian hospitals," Prabowo said when appearing as a speaker at the Special Address session at the IISS Shangri-La Dialogue 2024 forum which was held at the Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore, Saturday (1/6).

According to Prabowo, contributing to creating world peace is one of Indonesia's missions on the international stage.

Indonesia has also made various efforts to reduce conflicts, one of which is through an inclusive dialogue approach and concrete cooperation, and upholding international law.

In terms of the conflict in Gaza, Prabowo believes that all countries under the auspices of the United Nations must collaborate to find a way out in creating peace.

With collaboration from all parties, Prabowo believes that there will be a way without violence that can be taken to reduce conflict.

"Together with many other countries in the world today, the only real solution for lasting peace and security for Israel and Palestine is a two-state solution," Prabowo said.
