Jokowi's Voice In The Vina Cirebon Case: There's Nothing To Cover Up, I Ask The National Police Chief To Be Transparent

JAKATA - President Joko Widodo spoke out in the murder case of Vina, a teenager from Cirebon, West Java, in 2016. He ordered National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo to oversee the murder case. "Ask the National Police Chief. I have conveyed that the case is really guarded and transparent, everything is open," said Jokowi after visiting Lawang Agung Market, Musi Rawas Regency, South Sumatra, as reported by Antara, Thursday, May 30. Jokowi also asked that nothing needs to be covered up for the legal process of the Vina case. "There is nothing to cover up. If anything," said Jokowi. The murder case of Vina Cirebon entered a new phase after one of the three suspects was arrested by the West Java Regional Police along with the Directorate of General Crimes (Dittipidum) of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police, after eight years of fugitives. The perpetrator who was arrested had the initials Pegi Setiawan alias Perong, who was suspected of being the mastermind behind Vina's murder and rape. The murder and rape of Vina took place in August 2016. The Cirebon teenager was murdered with his girlfriend, Muhammad Rizky or Eky. Initially, the police said that 11 perpetrators were involved. Eight perpetrators have been convicted while the rest are fugitives. The three perpetrators who are on the wanted list with an estimated age of now are Pegi alias Perong (30), Andi (31), and Dani (28).

Later, after the three DPOs were untouched for eight years, the police returned to hunting and arresting one perpetrator, Pegi. The West Java Regional Police corrected that there was only one DPO in Vina's case.
