JAKARTA - A member of the ASThomas Massie Congress said he was against sending more financial aid to Ukraine from the US government unless it could create peace.

"I have told our chairman, if you want to send 60 billion dollars (around Rp958.44 trillion) to achieve peace, I will probably agree," Massie told Sputnik as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, May 25. "However, I do not agree with the 60 billion dollars which then only need another 60 billion dollars," he said. According to him, the two warring parties in Ukraine will eventually run out of personnel if they continue to fight.

"I think it is immoral for both parties to destroy people in this war," Massie said.

Earlier on Friday (24/5), US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken announced his government was providing a new package of weapons assistance to Ukraine worth US$275 million (around Rp4.39 trillion).

Meanwhile, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin on Monday (20/5) said the US had delivered a lot of aid that became Ukraine's "major priority" and much assistance would still be provided.

Austin said he expects the continuity of US aid to Ukraine every week.

On the other hand, Russia continues to warn Western countries against continuing to deliver weapons to Ukraine because it will only prolong the conflict but not change the situation on the ground.
