Homeyo Is Safe, People Hold Initial Worship At The GKI Church Imanuel Pogapa

After three weeks of repatriation outside the Homeyo District, Intan Jaya Regency, Christians returned to their first service at the GKI Church, Imanuel Pogapa, on Sunday (19/5).

This service was attended by almost all residents of Homeyo, including men, women, children, and a number of personnel from the Joint Security Forces who served in Homeyo District.

This service was carried out thanks to the safe and conducive situation in Homeyo District. This security was realized after the Joint Forces of the HABEMA TNI Operations Command (KOOPS TNI) together with the KOPASSUS NANGGALA Task Force managed to thwart several attempts by the Free Papua Organization (OPM) attack in the region.

The success of preventing OPM allows HABEMA KOOPS to place the Territorial Task Force (Satgaster) of the Preparation Kodim in Intan Jaya Regency, including Homeyo District, to ensure security.

Previously, the TNI regional apparatus in Intan Jaya only consisted of Koramil units operating under the command of Kodim 1705/Nabire which are far outside this district.

The presence of the Joint Apparatus in Homeyo District made residents return from evacuation and carry out joint worship at the GKI Church, Imanuel Pogapa. During worship activities, the security situation remains conducive, so that residents can worship solemnly.

The success of the joint apparatus in securing the first worship was welcomed by all residents. After worship, Hengki Bagubau, Secretary of Homeyo District, thanked the HABEMA Satgaster for their efforts.

"Today, May 19, 2024, we can reunite and worship at the Imanuel Pogapa Church. God bless," said Hengki Bagubau in a written statement received by VOI, Monday, May 20.

After the service, the joint security forces interacted with residents, enjoying a peaceful and conducive atmosphere at Homeyo.

"The safe situation in Homeyo District has a positive impact on the comfort of residents in their daily activities, including worship activities as a form of gratitude to God Almighty," said the Commander of Kogabwilhan III, Lt. Gen. Richard TH Tampubolon, after receiving a report on the implementation of the inaugural worship at Homeyo.
