JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Food, Maritime and Agriculture Security Service (DKPKP) examined thousands of sacrificial animals entering Jakarta ahead of Eid al-Adha.

Health checks and feasibility of sacrificial animals include physical conditions and adequacy of life at the Sacrificial Animal Shelter (TPnHK) 5 areas of DKI Jakarta Administrative City.

"As of today, 2,487 animals have been examined consisting of 2,150 cows, 17 buffalo, and 320 goats/sheep," said Head of DKI Jakarta DKPKP, Suharini Eliawati in her statement, Monday, May 20.

The examined sacrificial animals were imported from Lampung, East Java, Central Java, West Java, DIY, Bali, and West Nusa Tenggara.

"If there are sick animals, officers will provide free treatment services," explained Suharini.

In addition to health checks and the feasibility of sacrificial animals, officers also carry out inspections of traffic documents, as well as supervision related to the feasibility of the TPnHK, including maintenance facilities such as roofs of shade, safety fences, quarantine cages and isolation. "This activity is still continuing along with the arrival of other sacrificial animals entering DKI Jakarta," he explained.

It is estimated that around 63 thousand sacrificial animals will enter Jakarta to meet the needs of Eid celebrations, consisting of cows, buffalo, goats, and sheep.

Suharini revealed that most of the sacrificial livestock entering Jakarta came from East Java and Lampung.

In line with that, the DKI Provincial Government carried out a number of efforts to prevent the spread of infectious diseases in sacrificial animals.

Among them are implementing the traffic procedure for sacrificial animals in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia Number 17 of 2023 concerning Procedures for Supervision of Animal Traffic, Animal Products, and Media for Bringing Other Animal Diseases within the territory of the Republic of Indonesia.

"It is also carried out to socialize the traffic procedure for sacrificial animals to businesses that supply sacrificial animals in DKI Jakarta," he said.
