Minister Of Home Affairs Inaugurates 5 Acting Governors, Zudan Arif Becomes Acting Governor Of South Sulawesi

JAKARTA - Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian officially inaugurated five acting (Pj.) governors at the Sasana Bhakti Praja (SBP) Building, Head Office of the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri), Jakarta.

The five are Samsuddin Abdul Kadir as Acting Governor of North Maluku, Al Muktabar as Acting Governor of Banten, Mohammad Rudy Salahuddin as Acting Governor of Gorontalo, Bahtiar as Acting Governor of West Sulawesi, and Zudan Arif Fakrulloh as Acting Governor of South Sulawesi.

The inauguration was carried out based on the Presidential Decree (Keppres) of the Republic of Indonesia Number 60/P of 2024 concerning the Dismissal and Appointment of Acting Governors of North Maluku, South Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, Banten, and Gorontalo.

Tito said the five Acting Governors were candidates directly elected by President Joko Widodo.

In addition, they have also gone through a selection involving a number of institutions such as the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK), the Attorney General's Office (AGO), and the National Police.

By going through this long process, he believes the Acting Governors who are appointed are able to carry out the mandate well.

"My colleagues who were inaugurated I congratulated the President, because this was signed directly by the President with the Presidential Decree, and then we believe once again is the mandate of Allah SWT," said the Minister of Home Affairs as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, May 17.

Tito asked the newly appointed governors to focus more on understanding and advancing their respective areas. They are also asked to make policies that are right on target for the local community.

Especially for the Acting Governor who comes from the Ministry of Home Affairs, he hopes that they can enrich their experience in the regions, so that in the future it can be better in carrying out the function of fostering and supervising the administration of local governments attached to the Ministry of Home Affairs.

"These officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs [need to] have experience in the regions. With more experience in the regions, they will understand the regions and then after that they can make the right policies," he said.

In addition, the Minister of Home Affairs also hopes that the Acting Governor who has just been inaugurated will be able to improve the economy and run superior programs in their respective regions.

For this reason, cooperation with the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), community and traditional leaders, is requested to be further improved.

The acting governor was also asked to oversee and succeed in the implementation of a very important national agenda, namely the Simultaneous Regional Head Election (Pilkada) on 27 November.

Tito also reminded the Acting Governors to immediately prepare the 2025 Regional Government Work Plan (RKPD) as well as the Regional Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMD).
