301 Families Affected By Mount Ruang Eruption Immediately Relocated To Modition Village

A total of 301 families affected by the eruption of Mount Ruang in Sitaro Islands Regency are planned to be relocated to Modition Village, South Bolaang Mongondow Regency.

"The government will build facilities for residents who will be relocated there," said Governor Olly Dondokambey during a dialogue with residents of victims of the Mount Ruang eruption in Manado as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 15.

The governor said the facilities to be built for residents of Pumpente Village and Laingpatehi Village who previously lived in Ruang Island would be adjusted to the characteristics of the island.

It is planned that the construction of houses along with supporting facilities for victims of the Mount Ruang eruption will be carried out in the middle of this year.

"There are public facilities and social facilities that will be built there," said Governor Olly.

The facilities prepared are residents' balai, sports facilities, places of worship, educational facilities, health facilities (puskesmas/pustu) as well as boat mooring places.

The provincial government, said Governor Olly, will prepare land and choose locations that match the lives of people on the Island of Ruang.

The governor also said that residents who work as fishermen will be provided with boats with engines, a 5 GT capacity boat that can be used to make a living.

"Residents will also be given money after the emergency response period is over while waiting for construction at the relocation site to be completed," he said.

Residents of Ruang Island who were later relocated to Modisi Village were previously evacuated to Tagulandang Island during the eruption of Mount Ruangan on April 16, 2024.
