Airlangga: There Has Been No Discussion On The Extension Of Rice Social Assistance

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto said there had been no discussion by the government to extend the distribution of 10 kilograms of rice social assistance (bansos).

"It has never been discussed," said Airlangga at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 15.

The distribution of 10 kg of rice social assistance has been decided until June 2024. President Joko Widodo previously gave a social assistance signal that the distribution could be extended until December 2024, if there are more funds in the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN).

The President emphasized the importance of food support from the government towards the community amid the increase in global food prices.

Airlangga said there had been no discussion regarding extending the distribution of the rice social assistance.

Regarding the opportunity for distribution to be extended until December 2024, Airlangga said the government would look at the situation in the future first.

"We'll see, prices are starting to fall and the situation is starting to be safe," said Airlangga.
