300 Vehicles Trapped Due To Flash Floods Of The Lalindu River

A total of 300 vehicles were trapped in floods due to the overflowing of the Lalindu River that hit Sambandate Village, Oheo District, North Konawe Regency, Southeast Sulawesi Province (Sultra).

Head of the Operations Section (KBO) of the North Konawe Police Traffic Unit (Satlantas) Ipda Zulfikar said the flash flood was caused by the intensity of rainfall which was high enough to trigger flooding with water levels reaching about two meters.

Currently, his party has deployed 30 personnel to secure the community and vehicles who want to cross the area where the flash flood disaster occurred on Jalan Trans Sulawesi since May 3, 2024.

"The queue of vehicles is three kilometers long," said Zulfikar as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, May 11.

The steps taken by his party by controlling vehicle traffic, both motorbikes and cars. In addition, to cross flood areas, the community must use the rafts provided by the area.

"There are dozens of raft services to cross the area in Oheo District," said Zulfikar.

To prevent unwanted things, Zulfikar appealed to the public to continue to obey the rules that have been set and not be careless about natural disasters that can come at any time.

"For the people of Southeast Sulawesi, whose business is not urgent from Kendari to Morowali, it should be postponed because the TransSulawesi road is affected by flooding," said Zulfikar.
