Chairman of the National Awakening Party (PKB) Muhaimin Iskandar (Cak Imin) called Ida Fauziyah a party cadre who was offered to be promoted as a candidate for Governor of DKI Jakarta in the 2024 regional elections.
However, in order to carry the Minister of Manpower to compete in the DKI gubernatorial election, PKB needs additional seats from other political parties.
"Yes, the encouragement from the DKI PKB asked Ida Fauziyah to be nominated. The problem is that we still need 10 more to be able to carry Ida Fauziyah," said Cak Imin in Jakarta, Wednesday, May 1 evening.
In the vote acquisition for the 2024 Legislative Election, the DKI Jakarta DPRD PKB received 10 seats out of a total of 106 seats.
Meanwhile, referring to Article 40 of Law Number 10 of 2016 concerning the Election of Governors, Regents, and Mayors (Pilkada), regional heads can be nominated with at least 20 percent of political or joint party seats in the DPRD.
So, like it or not, PKB must attract other political parties if they want to carry Ida Fauziyah in the Jakarta regional elections.
"Of course it is impossible for us to be sure that there are no more 10 seats that are back up. Of course the process that we must see. That's a party. We'll see," said the Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives.
Recently, PKB has begun exploring cooperation with a number of other political parties to form a coalition in the regional elections, such as PKS and PPP.
However, Cak Imin admitted that there was no agreement regarding regional mapping with the coalition of parties.
"We, with the PKS, have reached a meeting with candidates but it is easier to communicate," he added.
