Jokowi Condolences to Rachmat Gobel's Funeral Home

JAKARTA - The 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), expressed his condolences to the house of mourning of DPR member Rachmat Gobel at Jalan Supomo Number 55A, South Jakarta, Friday, and conveyed his deepest condolences.

"Mr. Rachmat Gobel is a good person, a hard-working minister, I think," said Jokowi as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, July 10.

Jokowi arrived at the deceased's house at around 10.35 WIB and left the location at around 10.54 WIB.

Even so, Jokowi did not provide further information when confirmed when he last communicated or whether he would attend the funeral of the deceased.

It is known that the Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) and the Minister of Trade for the period 2014-2015, Rachmat Gobel, died on Friday morning, leaving grief for his family, colleagues, and the community for his long service to the nation and state.

The news of Rachmat Gobel's death was confirmed by Deputy Chairman of Commission XI of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Fauzi Amro, when contacted by ANTARA in Jakarta, Friday, and conveyed condolences for the late's departure.

Fauzi Amro conveyed that Rachmat Gobel died on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 03.20 WIB, in Jakarta, while praying that the deceased would get the best place by the side of Allah.

"Also condolences, innalillahi wainnailaihi raji'un. He passed away in the mercy of H Rachmat Gobel on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 03.20 WIB, in Jakarta," said Fauzi.

The deceased's body was laid to rest at the funeral home located at Jalan Supomo Number 55A, South Jakarta, as a place for family and relatives to give the last respects.

The late left behind a beloved wife, Retno Damayanti, who has accompanied his life and service, and has become an important part of his extended family's life.

Rachmat Gobel also left two children, namely Nurfitria Sekarwillis Kusumawardhani and Mohammad Arif Gobel, as well as grandchildren and a large family who are now grieving his departure.

The politician who died at the age of 63 has a background as an entrepreneur and politician. In addition to holding important positions in parliament, Gobel is also the President Commissioner of various PT Panasonic companies.

In addition, Rachmat Gobel also served as Trade Minister in the era of President Joko Widodo in 2014 to 2015, before Thomas Trikasih Lembong or known as Tom Lembong.
