Prabowo Leaves for NTB to Officially Open Five Strategic Dams

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to inaugurate five dams spread across four provinces on Friday, July 10. The inauguration is part of the government's strategy to strengthen national water resilience while supporting the target of food self-sufficiency.

The President departed for West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) using the Indonesian Presidential Aircraft-1 from the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta, at 10.45 WIB.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said the inauguration activity center was held at the Meninting Dam, West Lombok Regency, NTB. At the same time, the President will also inaugurate the Keureuto Dam and Rukoh Dam in Aceh, the Jlantah Dam in Central Java, and the Sidan Dam in Bali.

"President Prabowo departed for West Nusa Tenggara Province to carry out a working visit. In NTB, the President will inaugurate the Meninting Dam in West Lombok Regency and at the same time also inaugurate four other dams as part of the government's efforts to strengthen national water resilience," said Teddy.

According to Teddy, the five dams are strategic infrastructure that has been built to ensure water availability for the agricultural sector, meet the community's raw water needs, reduce the risk of flooding, and support the development of renewable energy.

The government considers strengthening water resources infrastructure to be one of the main foundations in realizing food self-sufficiency. With more guaranteed water availability, agricultural land productivity in various regions is expected to increase so that it can support national food security.

"The existence of these dams is expected to provide great benefits to the community, especially in increasing agricultural productivity, ensuring water availability, as well as strengthening the foundation for sustainable development," said Teddy.

In addition to supporting the agricultural sector, the dams are also expected to strengthen national water resilience amid increasing demand for clean water and the challenges of climate change that impact the availability of water resources.

During the working visit, President Prabowo was accompanied by Coordinating Minister for Food and Agriculture Zulkifli Hasan, Secretary of State Prasetyo Hadi, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
