Medan Police Arrest 23.8 Kilograms Of Crystal Methamphetamine From Malaysia

The Medan City Police (Polrestabes), North Sumatra arrested a suspect with the initials AFS (31), a resident of Patumbak District, Deli Serdang Regency, who was suspected of being a courier of 23.8 kilograms of methamphetamine from Malaysia.

"The evidence confiscated was 24 plastic bags of tea weighing 23,800 grams (23.8 kg), one car and two cellphones," said Medan Police Chief Kombes Teddy Jhon Sahala Marbun as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, April 17.

Teddy said the perpetrator was arrested by officers at the Sei Putih Village apartment, Medan Petisah District, Medan on Saturday (13/4) at 14.00 WIB.

"The perpetrator was arrested in the apartment parking lot carrying two laptop bags with 24 packs of methamphetamine that would get into the car, then the development was carried out in the hotel room, there were four packs containing methamphetamine," said Teddy.

He continued that during the interrogation, the suspect admitted that the evidence came from the initials WN.

Teddy said that previously AFS received 30 kg of methamphetamine.

"According to the WN's order, the suspect will deliver 20 kg of crystal methamphetamine to Palembang and 10 kg will be circulated in Medan with a profit of Rp. 300 million. Before being arrested, the suspect admitted that he had circulated 6 kg of crystal methamphetamine," said Teddy.

Currently, officers from the Narcotics Investigation Unit of the Polrestabes are still developing WN as AFS bosses.

"As a result of the development, the suspect was arrested in 2013 and sentenced to 5 years and 3 months, and 2017 sentenced to eight years, then released from prison in February 2023," said Teddy.

The suspect was charged with Article 114 (2) subsidiary 112 (2) of Law No. 35 of 2009 on Narcotics.
