President Jokowi Meets Apple CEO At The Palace Tomorrow

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is scheduled to meet with Apple Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Tim Cook at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday (16/4).

"Tomorrow, the plan is for Apple CEO Tim Cook to be accepted by President Jokowi at the Merdeka Palace at 09.30 WIB," said Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, April 16.

He said that at the meeting there would be important investment opportunities for Apple in Indonesia for the global technological advancement ecosystem.

"Details will wait for tomorrow's meeting. Good for Indonesia because our country is an important part of the technological advances ecosystem," he said.

As previously reported, the Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita hopes that there will be investment potential during the visit of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of a giant technology company from the United States, namely Apple to Indonesia which is scheduled for tomorrow.

"Yes, hopefully. If we have been talking with Apple for a long time. We are talking about a policy, I am not saying this is a special policy. But we have issued a policy for Apple," he said.

Agus explained that the policy applied to Apple was the offset of the Domestic Component Level or TKDN for products made by Apple.

According to him, Apple has also committed to improving the quality of education in Indonesia in terms of human resources (HR) and infrastructure.

"They have formed three, already want four called the Apple Academy, which in my view the output is quite good at producing human resources, producing innovations for applications that can then be used in other companies," he said.
